Hannibal

(247-183 BC)

Hannibal was a general from North Carthage who invaded Italy. Since Rome controlled the seas, he took his army over the Alps. When he started, he had 37 war elephants with him. After the 15 day journey, he only had a few. Half of his soldiers died as well. Hannibal stayed in Italy uncucssesfuly attacking Rome. Years after Hannibal's death, Rome burned Carthage to the ground.
